Dr. Jorge E. Garcia

Jorge Garcia has been involved in music education since 1969. He has taught music on all levels from college to kindergarten. He has conducted several honor groups including the Memorial Orchestra for President Chiang Kai-shek, the Sino-American Honor, and the Taiwan Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Garcia has toured Europe playing tuba with the School Band of America and won solo competitions in both California and Heidelberg, Germany. He is President-Emeritus and founder of the American Drum Line Association, a member of the American Guild of Handbell Ringers, and the National Consortium of Life Long Learning.

Mr. Garcia's undergraduate work at Westmont College in Montecito, CA, and California State University, Fullerton helped prepare him for his career in Music Education. While at Cal-State he was active with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. A noted lecturer and presenter on "Motivation in the Classroom," "Hymnody in the 21st Century Church," and "Music and Lifelong Learning," he has given presentations in several different countries and spoke at the International Conference of Lifelong Learning in Budapest, Hungary, in the fall of 2007. On July 30, 2008, he was awarded his DMA by the University of Southern California/Canyon College in Music Education with specialization in Lifelong Learning.
